You want to feel like you're comfortable and not intimidated by prices, or a wine list, or all of it. There are so many restaurants that will feel special and still tab in at $100 per person (give or take), including alcohol and taxes and tips, rather than triple the amount. ![]() But if what you're used to is Olive Garden or Chili's, I suspect (and I could be wrong, of course) that the leap to the types of cuisine offered at both may just be way too much, along with the dollars. And I would be thrilled took me to either for a special occasion. The two you asked about are incredibly fabulous, of course. But it's not always necessary to go to the number 1 or number 2 restaurants (and spend more than 10 times what you normally spend on a meal) to make it special. Sometimes people think that they "need" to spend a lot of money for a special occasion to validate the experience.
